چکیده

We study the interplay of strong electron correlations and intratriangle spin exchange at two-thirds filling single-orbital Hubbard model on decorated honeycomb lattice using rotationally invariant slave bosons. find that tunes between a spin-1 Mott insulator, metal, spin-0 insulator when is antiferromagnetic. The insulators occur from effective multiorbital interactions are adiabatically connected to ground state an isolated triangle. An antiferromagnetic exchange, as determined by Goodenough-Kanamori rules, may in coordination polymers kinetic via ligands. characterize magnetism regime where triplets dominate. For small $U$ Slater occurs with order triangles. Magnetism described Heisenberg lattice, whose N\'eel ordered.

Metal-insulator transition in VO2: a Peierls-Mott-Hubbard mechanism

The electronic structure of VO2 is studied in the frameworks of local density approximation (LDA) and LDA+U to give a quantitative description of the metal-insulator (MI) transition in this system. It is found that, both structural distortion and the local Coulomb interaction, play important roles in the transition. An optical gap, comparable to the experimental value has been obtained in the m...

Superfluid to Mott-insulator transition in Bose-Hubbard models.

We study the superfluid-insulator transition in Bose-Hubbard models in one-, two-, and three-dimensional cubic lattices by means of a recently proposed variational wave function. In one dimension, the variational results agree with the expected Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless scenario of the interaction-driven Mott transition. In two and three dimensions, we find evidence that, across the trans...

Dynamical properties of the one-dimensional spin-1/2 Bose-Hubbard model near a Mott-insulator to ferromagnetic-liquid transition.

We investigate the dynamics of the one-dimensional strongly repulsive spin-1/2 Bose-Hubbard model for filling nu <or= 1. While at nu=1 the system is a Hubbard-Mott insulator exhibiting dynamical properties of the Heisenberg ferromagnet, at nu<1 it is a ferromagnetic liquid with complex spin dynamics. We find that close to the insulator-liquid transition the system admits for a complete separati...

Mott physics near the insulator-to-metal transition in NdNiO3.

An optical study of NdNiO(3) ultrathin films with insulating and metallic ground states reveals new aspects of the insulator-to-metal transition that point to Mott physics as the driving force. In contrast with the behavior of charge-ordered systems, we find that the emergence of the Drude resonance across the transition is linked to a spectral weight transfer over an energy range of the order ...
